Hope, courage, skill and INSPIRATION

March 21st, 2010

After having witnessed the 1 km Cross Country Skiing Sprint Finals for the Vancouver 2010 Paralympic Games, I could only be in awe. The Paralympic athletes were simply amazing. In this particular event, some competed sitting, others needed a guide to be their eyes and others skied with an arm or leg disability. They overcame numerous obstacles and countless hours of training and hard work to be able to represent themselves, their family, friends and country at these Games. They competed as the talented, skillful and inspirational human beings they are.

One of the most inspiring attributes they all hold is determination. Some of the athletes were born with their disabilities; others because of accidents. These Paralympians didn’t give up. Instead of accepting defeat, they vowed to pursue excellence. Many of us could certainly take a page from their book and learn from their “rules for success.” Their level of commitment and athleticism certainly ignited a fire of inspiration in hearts of all Canadians. It most definitely did for me.

I was very happy to see that the people of Vancouver embraced the Paralympic Games and showed the same level of nationalism, commitment, support and encouragement as they did for the Olympic Games. Most events were sold out. We all continued to wear our “red and white” to show how proud we were.

For me, the one word that I will carry with me for the rest of my life and the greatest impact the Games had on me was INSPIRATION.

How did the Vancouver 2010 Games impact you?

Natural Allegy Relief and Treatment in Port Moody

January 11th, 2010
There is a growing number of people searching for a cure for allergies.  Food allergies, seasonal allergies and pet allergies are very common.  I have a keen interest in food allergies and, in particular, with children.  I do treat adults as well.  I practice a natural allergy elimination treatment technique called NAET.  NAET is an innovative, natural solution for allergies and allergy-related conditions.
From a Western medical point of view, an allergy is an overreaction of the immune system.  In NAET, allergies are viewed from a holistic perspective based on Oriental Medical principles and defined in terms of the effect an allergic substance has on the energy flow in the body.  It is important to know that everything as energy, whether it is animate or inanimate.  Thus, we are coming in contact with all kinds of energies on a daily basis.  If these energies don’t collide with our body’s energy then we are fine, but if they do, then there will be some sort of a reaction.
It is curious to me that many people who suffer from chronic conditions and pain are allergic to many basic food ingredients such as vitmains, minerals, grains (gluten) that are consumed each every day.  I wonder how people can feel better and be healthier when they are coming in contact with the enemy so often?  It seems to make sense that if we can neutralize the negative interaction between the incoming energy and our own energy then we will have less allergies and less health issues.  This is what NAET does.  It helps to eliminate the negative reaction so that you can continue to be exposed to the energy without a reaction.  In other words, you can continue to eat your regular foods.  This treatment process does not involve needles and makes it ideal for children of all ages!! What if you could help your child eliminate their allergies?  Wouldn’t that be a great gift??

Don’t Give Up  — There Is Hope!!

NAET can help with the following conditions:

asthma
gluten issues
irritable bowel syndrome
acid reflux
fibromyalgia
sinusitis
migraine headaches
dairy issues
constipation
autism
anxiety
and many more……!

Acupuncture as a benefit for low back pain

June 4th, 2009

A  new study published in the May 11, 2009 issue of Archives of Internal Medicine has added even further information to the literature on the benefits of acupuncture in treating back pain.  Even though the examiners in this study find the mechanisms of acupuncture still to be unclear (and warrants further investigation), they did agree that acupuncture is a reasonable and viable option for those patients seeking a relatively safe and effective treatment for a condition for which conventional treatments are often ineffective.  It’s great to see that acupuncture continues to prove to be highly beneficial for those suffering from all kinds of pain.

Acupuncture and Iliotibial Band Friction Syndrome

May 19th, 2009

I had a marathon runner come in to see me last week with iliotibial band friction syndrome (ITB pain).  This is usually experienced as pain at the outside of the knee.  It is very common due to the repetitive nature of running.  Acupuncture is a great tool to create relief from iliotibial band friction pain.

acupuncture and natural therapies options for hot flashes

May 19th, 2009

I currently have a female patient who is suffering from menopausal related hot flashes.   She finds that the hot flashes are worse at night and makes it difficult for her to sleep.  I have treated her with acupuncture only and now she finds that she gets longer periods of relief from the heat and when it does return the heat isn’t as strong.  I am continuing to treat her on a regular basis.  So, there is hope for all of the menopausal sufferers out there!

A personal story about NAET Allergy Elimination

May 6th, 2009

My daughter, Emma (now 4 1/2), was born with a sensitivity to gluten.  I refer to it as a “sensitivity” rather than an allergy because we didn’t have any blood work done to confirm the sensitivity.  We first experienced her sensitivity around nine months, when she started solids.  After ingesting gluten Emma would become constipated, have stomach pains and would be very clingy.  We took her to a general physician, pediatrician, a homeopath and a naturopath.  Nothing was confidently diagnosed for her.  We started experimenting with her diet by eliminating dairy, wheat and other common allergens.  At age 2, we went completely gluten free with everything she ate.  We had to very quickly learn all about the world of gluten free foods, where to buy them and how to prepare them.

It became a personal mission of mine to find a solution to her condition.  I have been practicing NAET since 2005.  I attended an annual NAET conference last summer and one of the speakers did a presentation on protocols for treating gluten allergies.   Late last fall, I started to treat Emma for her gluten sensitivity using the protocols I had learned.  After 18 treatments, Emma no longer had an issue with gluten.  On Christmas Eve, she was able to have her first piece of dessert baking (with gluten) and nothing happened!!   The symptoms that we were used to seeing in Emma disappeared!  As a parent and a father, it means so much to me that I have helped my daughter improve her quality of life (in fact, it brings a tear to my eye).

What if you could give the same gift to your child or someone else that you know?  Wouldn’t that be the most amazing gift??
